Environmental Policy: ICarta Technologies

1. Mission Statement
ICarta Technologies (“the Company”) recognises that its operations have an impact on the environment. We are committed to a sustainable future and to improving our environmental performance. As a technology-first consultancy, we view the transition to a low-carbon economy not just as a duty, but as an opportunity to lead through efficient digital innovation.

2. Net Zero Commitment
ICarta Technologies is formally committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, in alignment with the UK’s Climate Change Act and the SME Climate Hub standards. We aim to:
-
Halve our carbon emissions before 2030.
-
Report annually on our progress toward these targets.
-
Prioritise deep decarbonisation across our operations before relying on any carbon offsetting.
3. Responsibility
The Director, Alexander Lazutin, holds overall responsibility for this policy. All employees and contractors are expected to adhere to these principles and contribute to the Company’s sustainability goals.
4. Sustainable Procurement & Vetting
We recognise that our environmental footprint is largely determined by the partners we choose. We vet all third-party suppliers and service providers against a strict "Sustainability & Safety" scorecard:
-
Renewability: We prioritise suppliers who utilise 100% renewable energy or have clear, science-based net-zero targets.
-
Location: Where possible, we favour UK-based suppliers to minimise supply chain emissions and support the local green economy.
-
Data Safety: Environmental responsibility must go hand-in-hand with digital security. We ensure all "green" providers meet our rigorous data protection and sovereignty standards.
5. Operational Commitments
5.1 Renewable Energy First We will always choose renewable energy sources over non-renewable options for our physical office spaces and digital infrastructure. We specifically select hosting regions (e.g., AWS/Azure/GCP) that are carbon-neutral or powered by renewable energy.
5.2 Digital Waste & Efficiency
-
Efficient Code: We advocate for "Green Software Engineering," ensuring our applications are optimised to reduce CPU cycles and server energy consumption.
-
Data Hygiene: We regularly audit and delete redundant, obsolete, or trivial (ROT) data to reduce the carbon cost of cloud storage.
-
Digital-Only Mandate: We maintain a paperless workflow and utilise digital-first tools for all contracts, invoicing, and internal documentation.
5.3 Travel and Remote Work
-
We operate a remote-first model to eliminate the environmental cost of daily commuting.
-
We prioritise virtual meetings and limit business travel to essential trips only, favouring rail over air travel for UK and European transit.
6. Compliance and Monitoring
We will comply with all relevant UK environmental legislation, including the Digital Waste Tracking mandates and WEEE regulations for IT hardware disposal. This policy is reviewed annually to ensure it remains ambitious and effective.
